Has Sven Gone Too Far ?

It's great to see City flying high so far this season; after the lows of the last few years the fans have at last got something to cheer about.

Although I'm naturally chuffed to see City in the top 4 and obviously hope we stay there, all this heady success is causing me what is perhaps a strange problem ...... apart from bulk standard match reports (which I don't tend to do as everyone else seems to re-cycle the same thing), there isn't that much else to write about City these days.

I don't know what my fellow regular City chroniclers such as Danny @ Bitterandblue and Andy, Gavin and Johnny Baguette @ Vital Football think, but these days it's hard finding something different, challenging or provocative to write about as everythings going so swimmingly, just like a well oiled machine. Even the output from the excellent Purelymancity and KoTK doesn't seem to be as prolific as it was just a few months ago.

For so long, City fans have had such a rollercaster existence swaying from one crisis to another, but now it's so different, and I have to say quite disconcerting that we have very little to moan about these days, such is the impact that Sven and the new regime have made - I can't remember the last dig I had at the Club it's so long ago.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same anxiety that all this is too good to be true and can't last or is that just a typcial City thing?

If things don't start getting worse very soon, I may have to knock this blog on the head and get a life :-)

Yes it does feel a bit strange at times, but get used to it because it is here to stay - you'll just have to try a bit harder, but do keep it up !

Now I know how my Mrs feels - she's never happy unless she's got something to moan about either ...

Maybe you'll have to change the About Me section of your Profile soon then..?

How about...

Just a collection of views and rambings of an average Man City season-ticket holder...... It's a lot easier than it used to be!!

It is a strange one when I look back at some of the posts from the past couple of seasons, which are laced with negativity and frustration!

Things are by no means perfect but any critical posts this season tend to feel more picky than anything else.

City fans - never happy unless we're complaining...

There will be plenty to write about over the next few months now that the International interuptions are out of the way.

With the January transfer window almost upon us their will be great debate on who will or will not be signed. But one thing is for sure we are here to stay so get used to it. Europe here we Come !!!

Sorry if City are boring you!

You're right though - how are we going to live without the pain? !!

Perhaps we should look more closely at the situation SGE is a lucky man, his stricker signings have not yielded anything, only 4 players he signed have made the 1st team and but for the clubs vision into developing youth we would not be where we are today. SGE spent over 40M. Less than 20M od that has made the 1st team. Success , luck or failier. Who cares in Sven we trust, come on you blues!

Better lucky than the previous horroe show of managers. In Sven we trust!

In any walk of life you have to make your own luck. Just wait until he brings in his January signings.

I have a feeling he will probably astound everyone again and bring in at least FOUR new players and show everyone that we really do mean business and everyone will have to take notice.

I have loved and watched this football club since 1966 though my first match was in 63.
Always believed the good times would return, always believed it.
My worst ever moment was at the final against Gillingham, 0-2 down and 2 minutes left on the clock sat with my 8 year old son and tears running down my face with the horror of another year in that division.
The good times are back, I have lived long enough to see it, get used to it, we are hanging on untill the January transfer window and it will be lift off again, but Sven and Dr Thaskin are the shrewdest guy's this club has ever seen, we are running rings in marketing terms round the evil empire apart from our league results.
Enjoy the moment guy's, it's been a long time coming back for some of us and its here to stay this time!

Were you at Leeds for the quarter final in 1967 ? (Big daft Jack put the keeper and the ball in the net after committing two other fouls on his way through). That was the day Mercer and Allison allowed the team to play 'City football' for the first time. We watched with amazement - and we all knew, that day, we were going to win the the league the following season.

We're playing 'City football' again!

If you want to worry about something then you might as well turn your attention to the club's finances, in the way everyone used to. We've spent a fair amount on transfers, and certainly our wage bill is a long way beyond what it was. To say that the club is now privately owned and so if there is a debt it now belongs to Mr Thaksin and his family is one way of looking at things, is it the right way? When The Sunday Times tried to pin down ownership of City soon after the takeover they came to the conclusion that City was owned by a holding company that was in turnowned by a holding company that was under the control of Thaksin and his family. If there is a debt anywhere in that arrangement isn't it in effect still attached to City?

I would think Dr Thaksin is very pleased with his investment. After spending just over £80 million acquiring the club and the £38 million spent on transfers think of the additonal player value we now have compared to this time last year, no doubt nearly double the value of the £38 million Sven spent.

With more than £40 million coming from Sky together with the enormous amount of interest in the Far East generating increased merchandise sales, a good run in the Carling Cup and hopefully a good run in the FA Cup, a possible highest place finish in the Premier League.

To top it all if we secure a place in Europe then I am sure it will prove to be one of the shrewdest purchases in the Premiership and Dr Thaksin will be laughing all the way to the bank..

Time to be more creative then:

rotation policy, look at the Academy, what if Frank is arrested, Why don't we score more goals?, whats happened to the Fans Forum (or whatever it was called) are a few of my thoughts -

No rotation policy this season thank you, save that for Europe next year. This year the best possible team for each game.

p.s....More goals will come when Bojinov & Bianchi are fully fit together with our BIG BIG signing in January.

p.p.s...there is more chance of Harry Redknapp being arrested again than Shinawatra !!!

Wigan Blue.
Here since 66
I was at the 6th round match at Leed's, in the open end behind the goal in the rain. Facing the Shed.
Shed was an understatement
Apart from the stunning birth of our free flowing football it marked for me a realisation in our massed ranks packed into that end.
The realisation of the dynamic strengh of our vocal support in affecting the teams performance, it moulded the Kippax.
